Directing & Ensemble Creation Pre-conference at NPN
Directing & Ensemble Creation Pre-conference at the National Performance Network Annual Meeting
What do directors and ensemble artists need now to support their artistic development and advance aesthetically? What are our best practices, new insights, and emerging aesthetics? How do we shift field-wide disparities in cultural and gender equity? What creative processes are directors and ensembles using in the creation of new work? How do we collectively envision a National Institute for Directing & Ensemble Creation?
This one day pre-conference, held in conjunction with the National Performance Network (NPN) Annual Meeting, will provide an in-depth exchange opportunity for directors and ensemble leaders in the U.S., particularly artists of color and women directors, working in multiple aesthetics. Pangea World Theater and Art2Action will report back on what we’ve learned from field dialogues around the country, and from researching other institute models, to take our conversations deeper. Interactive and creative sessions will include workshops, dialogues, panels and Open Space!
This convening is organized by Pangea World Theater and Art2Action Inc., co-hosted by the National Performance Network (NPN) and the USF School of Theatre and Dance. Made possible, in part, by the generous support of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Nathan Cummings Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
