Alternate Visions

Alternate Visions provides artists of color, LGBTQ artists, immigrant and Indigenous writers a chance to develop their craft leading to mainstage production. Emerging playwrights spend an extended period of time writing and developing new plays with dramaturgical resources, travel and research funding, and production support. These pieces are presented to the public as they are developed.

Our very own Office Manager and Ensemble Member Adlyn Carreras, as well as Raquel Almaƶán, created work for the 2018 iteration of Alternate Visions.

Past readings and productions have included:

  • Curiosities by Heid Erdrich

  • Ady by Rhiana Yazzie

  • Hmong Bollywood by Katie Ka Vang

  • Solo Flight by Katie Herron Robb

  • Eleven Reflections on September by Andrea Assaf

  • Zafira the Olive Oil Warrior by Kathryn Haddad

  • Hiroshima by Masanari Kawahara

  • The Nguyens by Bao Phi

  • Med(i/e)a by Anton Jones

  • Under the Bridge by A-yia Thoj and Saychay Thor

  • If My Bones Could Speak by Adlyn Carreras

  • El Odio de un Pais (The Hate of a Country) by Raquel Almazan
